Dennis is the BEST! This place is so laid back and welcoming you should treat yourself and go there. Dennis was able to make my hair look better than it has in 40 years. A friend of mine liked the cut so much she had me make an appointment for her with Dennis as well. If I could give them ten stars I would.

I went to this salon because of the high ratings and because of the curly hair "experts". I only wanted a modest trim with maybe a few inches cut off. My hair was down to almost my lower back. Erica cut my hair and did not listen to what I wanted at all and did her own thing. I was in tears on the way home. She cut so many inches off and it was neck length; after years of intentionally growing it out.

Not only is my hair much shorter than I ever wanted it to be but it looks like a cross between a rat tail and a mullet! It's the most hideous and awful haircut I've had in my life. I either have to pin my hair up or wear extensions to feel confident leaving the house. I've been devastated about my hair and am in tears whenever I see pictures of myself before I let Erica butcher it. If you have curly hair.go somewhere else!

Ask for Norma! She's been doing my hair for years and of course I followed her when she joined the Blue Mambo team! Went in for a haircut with her, told her what I wanted and if she had any suggestions, and she proceded to give me the best haircut of my life and styling tips for it. EVERYONE NEEDS TO SEE ERICA BALDWIN. Always does exactly what I want AND more. Went there for the first time back in October to fixed a botched blonde I had gotten at a different salon, and was so happy with the results that I had to go back! Erica is the only hairstylist I trust with my hair. She stays up to date with new techniques and trends. SO sweet and really good at talking AND listening too, which makes the long hours you spend at the salon fly by. Would recommend her to anyone and everyone!

I went to Ronnie for a haircut. I showed him how short I wanted to go, which was about 5 inches off, and told him to add layers. I have very thick and wavy hair so he said he'd use the layers to thin it out which sounded fine. My first issue was I scheduled a haircut and blow dry and I left with wet unstyled hair because his next client was already there before I was even finished getting the cut portion done.

Since my hair was wet when I left I couldn't really tell how I felt about it. I got home and styled it myself and could tell the layers seemed off. No matter what I did I couldn't get it to lay right. Since I was nervous about cutting my hair to begin with I thought I was just being dramatic cause I haven't had my hair this short in about 15 years.

I finally tried straightening my hair for New Years (about 3 weeks after my appointment) and I saw just how bad the layers really are. They're so choppy and you can see how it looks like tiers of hair just laying on top of each other. To say I'm very disappointed is an understatement. Now I'm going to need to go to a different salon to get the layers fixed which means taking off more length that I don't want to take off to correct this.

I got it styled with Paddy and she guided me through every step on how I can continue my curly hair journey. I also had great convos with them as well. Will definitely be coming back with Paddy! I was so worried about where to get my curly hair cut since I've moved to Houston and decided to go here based on the yelp and google reviews I saw praising Jude for her work with curly hair. I'd recommend her to anyone now, she did a great job and educated me so much on how to best take care of my hair. Service: Haircut

I booked an appointment with Erica based on the reviews and the fact that she is listed as curly hair specialist. She gave me the WORST haircut I've ever had by far! It's hard to describe how bad this cut was, but she basically chopped one confusing, chunky, way too short layer. She didn't even attempt to make sure it was even on both sides, or blend the layers at all.

She just left one long layer underneath. It was like having two separate haircuts in one; both equally awful. I had to spend every cent she refunded me on paying an actually professional to fix the cut (last picture is after I'd was cut by somebody at a DIFFERENT salon). I had to lose a lot of length too to fix it! The color was not AS bad, but it was very streaky at the roots which was something I specifically said I didn't want.

Definitely not worth the premium she is charging. I asked for a refund because I'm gonna have to spend good money fixing this mess. I wouldn't have made this post except that she accused me of just wanting to steal from her. She acted like she was doing me a big favor by refunding me for the cut. She told me that I'm a bad person, and she hopes karma comes back around to me 4 times over. So I attached the pictures and you can decide for yourself. Feel free to DM for the info of who fixed the cut. I'll post a pic when the color is fixed too.

I just had my first experience with Blue Mambo Salon and it was 10/10! Jude R. was so sweet and patient; her service and work that she did on my hair was beyond my expectations; perfect hair trim/touch up and the balayage dye was done SO professionally- the different shades of purple came out so nicely; photos don't do it justice! Definitely will be visiting this cute salon with my s/o for any hair maintenance needs!
