My sister and I had an excellent experience at Changes. I called just a couple of days in advance for 2 haircuts and they were able to accommodate them at the same time. I actually called around the area and everyone else was completely booked. One of our stylists called out the day of but they were still able to work around their schedule to squeeze us in at the same time which I really appreciated. Paula cut and blew out my sister's hair and she absolutely loved it.

She really enjoyed chatting with Paula too. Daniel P. cut my hair and omg he did such an amazing job! He gave my hair the movement it needed. I've gotten so many layered haircuts in the past because I've kept the same hairstyle forever. Let me tell you HE IS THE REAL DEAL. And the blow out was absolutely perfect. He cut just enough off as well while still keeping it long.

I wish I could keep him as my stylist but I have to move! He also squeezed me in between a color he was doing and I didn't feel rushed! Pricing wise I believe it is comparable with the higher end salons in the area (~$60 for women's haircut). The gardenias (my favorite flower!) are such a nice touch at the entrance as well. :) The only thing I would personally love to see is an updated and more trendy/modern interior design but the space was perfectly fine and it's not intimidating. There's a nice relaxing atmosphere. Thank you Changes City Spa!

Aesthetician did an amazing job. Manicurist was wonderful also. I like that wine, coffee, and tea are offered with a side of cookies (if you like). This place is very relaxing. I'll definitely be back for my spa treatment soon.

I used changes for a group of seven. The technicians did an amazing job and all of the staff were very polite - the space is also great! Main point of feedback is the disconnect between front desk and staff - some changes we made to our schedule lineup via phone call weren't actually put into to the system or communicated forward. Overall, would go back but would confirm multiple times that they're able to do the system changes. Also a special shout out to Teia! My feet were in rough condition but she made them feel like a million bucks!

I cannot praise Irina enough. Irina is very attentive, and you can she truly enjoys what she does and where she does it - her over two decades of service here speaks volumes to that as well! She is very personable and has a warm and welcoming persona. I highly recommend Irina's services and will definitely be back for more nail and massage services with her!

Yesterday was the day I chose to relax and thankfully I was treated to a spa day! It was okay, they could of been more welcoming. My full body massage wasn't as I expected. The lady was extremely rough, I woke up this morning SORE. I think I'm suppose to feel the opposite. They lady who did my mani & pedi was the sweetest of them all. Although she didn't not give time for my nails or feet to dry before moving on to the next task.

I was never set under a uv light for my gel nails which cause them to mess up before I finished all my other services. After all of that my facial was the best service of them all. She was very informative and gentle. I would definitely recommend getting a facial but I may have to pass on all other services for now. I saw that you could add lunch to any service for an extra fee.

So I inquired about it and she suggested if I do get lunch I could take the food with me to gO. I thought that was kind of weird because the whole point is to relax THERE if I wanted to take the food Togo I could just order to go as I left. The front desk receptionists could of been more knowledgeable about the computer system as well. She almost over charged me for a retail product before using the remaining balance of my gift card. But overall the experience was okay!

The nail tech was rude from the start. Once I told her I had gel on my nails and she started filing the gel off my nails she was aggressive. When she was cleaning my cuticles she was aggressive as well. She did my regular nail polish and walked me the dryer and she left. Never mentioned how long I should be there. After 5-10 mins I checked my nails and there were bubbles.

I don't usually do manicures so I asked the lady next to me if that was normal and she said no. She asked if my nail tech used a quick dry drop on my nails and I said no. The other customer called another nail tech and the nail tech looked at my nails and called the tech that assisted me. The technician came and brought me back to her chair. I asked if she knew what would cause bubbles in my nail polish and she said no.

That's fine because I didn't expect her to have a definitive answer. She removed the nail polish and I told her to just do a top coat/clear coat. She put nail protein coat I believe which is fine. She then continued to badger me about the gel from earlier and how when they booked the appointment it wasn't booked with enough time to include the gel removal.

I told her that when I made the appointment the receptionist did mention gel removal when I told them I had gel on my nails. She then said well they're not gonna charge for that it's just a classic manicure that they're gonna charge for. Let me tell you something, I go to Changes City Spa often for my hair cuts and color. Money is NOT an issue and the fact that the nail tech mentioned that they were not charging for gel removal feels backhanded.

She was condescending when she said that as if I should be thankful that they aren't charging, just because she has to re do my nails. Almost as if they are doing me a favor. Terrible service from that technician. I will never request any other services other than a service from a hair stylist. It's the fact that the technician was rude, disrespectful, and did a terrible job with my nails, and was aggressive. Distasteful experience and it's upsetting.

I really wanted to say more to the technician but I like city spa so I bit my tongue. If management sees this I hope they reach out to me so I can address this issue once more. Very disappointing!

Perfect place for service members. If you're in the military, they give discounts. When I was still in the Navy and we would come back in port, I always made sure to schedule an appointment here. They tend to your needs and are caring. I've relocated now and this place has heightened my expectations. It's hard to find a place that matches the quality. I miss this place and I plan on giving my sister in law a gift certificate here. Try not to fall asleep while getting a massage.

This has been my go to spa for years. After the COVID shutdown, I went to relax with a mani pedi! I felt the stress leave my body as I approached the door. Then. BAM! Big black lives matter signs everywhere! I immediately could not speak. Couldn't believe POLITICS was at my favorite salon. Very bad idea. Never going back.

I love this place! Sadly, I no longer go there or work there anymore, since I moved out of state! As a client I always felt welcomed and loved the atmosphere. Everyone there is so talented and love what they do! I miss Irina, Michael, Linda and so many others! As an employee, I was lucky enough to build a professional Relationship and friendship with Norma.

She gave me so many opportunities to grow my career and became a great mentor. Two years later, I still text her about my new adventures and thank her for giving me a chance and teaching me so much. Working for Norma, has opened a lot of doors for me. Which, sometimes don't easily open for me, since I am a minority. Norma, never saw my skin color, never cared that I was Latina.

She cared that I wanted to learn and grow. City Spa was my home for almost 4 years! Thank you City Spa for always making me feel pretty and taken care of! And thank you Norma for all the opportunities you gave me and continue giving to the community!

I would highly recommend Alona For a spa pedicure! Yes it's more expensive (67.00) however it's worth it because they take sanitation extremely seriously. All nail files are brand new, everything is completely sanitized, they don't use drills etc. Alona takes the time And listens to exactly how you want your nails trimmed, cuticles trimmed etc.

Top notch service and friendly staff. Upstairs is the spa area with facial services and massages and waxing in a cell phone free zone. I've seen children getting hair cuts and having princess pedicures and regulars and event night hair styling. I've seen extensions and full coloring and some getting their nails done while the highlights process is going on as well.

It is larger than you think inside than what you see in the storefront. I've been seeing Lolita, one of their more experienced stylists for over a decade and never considered straying. Pricing varies in experience of stylist and services you are looking for so ask for pricing upfront so no surprises at the end. Their company app promotes their new additions to the family with discounts on services and same day service discounts so keep notifications turned on.

Currently for the holidays they are promoting Gift Card purchases (every $100 card gets $20 dollar extra spa bucks) to spend on what ever service you want through end of March). I buy them for myself. is that selfish? I don't think so. Lolita has seen me through boyfriends and then finding the one and getting married and buying my first home and promotions.

A stylist that is not only very skilled at her services but is personable, friendly, and a genuinely kind person. It is my go to salon. for massage, nails and hair. try them out and ask for a complimentary beverage and snacks as well while you process.

Gala is INCREDIBLE! She's my "go to" gal for facials and all skin services. Very pleasant and knowledgeable! I re-located from Ghent to another area in the Hampton Roads and tried several other esthetician and no one compares. Changes also has a great check in process, clean facility with the spa located upstairs. They offer robes, slippers and lockers if you want to get extra comfortable before your spa visit.

Leah is exceptional at Changes City Spa. I won't go to anyone else for a cut or for hair coloring. She really cares about her clients, always refills your glass, and is easy to talk to. When it comes to hair if you have a sense of adventure Leah is your girl. Her station is always clean, does an amazing shampoo, and is easy to communicate with about how the cut is going.

O-M-G! Best massage ever. I feel like a whole new woman. The decor is fabulous and soothing, with black and white prints of Marilyn Monroe mixed with teal green accents. The staff are incredibly friendly and they offer a huge array of services for self care, relaxation, and beautification. I will be back.

Wonderful facility. Prices are reasonable and services are high quality. But Jen at the front desk has atrocious customer service skills and really ruined my visit. She should not be at the front with that kind of attitude.

Wow! When I moved back from CA I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find the right hairdresser for my short, layered cut, but I got the best cut of my life from Norma at Changes (LOL I won't be "changing" hairdressers now!) SO happy!

If you're in need of a little TLC and "me time, " this is the place to be! They offer a wide variety of services and they even house the most adorable boutique which is constantly updated with the coolest little must haves! Christmas ornaments are in stock AND you can literally shop for all your stocking stuffers here! The staff are all about the customer and making sure you are happy! Need a little nail care? Be sure to ask for Sydney or Sephanie!

I was a first time client, it was a busy Saturday and I felt very overlooked. I had a hair cut and style along with a mani-pedi. The mani room is large and crowded, it did not feel very indulgent or special. The pedicure room was separate from manicure room and I was able to relax and sit back for a bit. Unfortunately, it was very busy and I felt rushed through the experience.

I liked my manicurist - she was very nice but the experience was just OK. The stylist was very nice and my hair looked great. Again, the experience was just OK. The stylist talked alot and most of it was complaining or remarks about other people. Maybe I will try again in the future, but for now I will explore other salons. For the prices I paid I want to feel little more indulged and not rushed. I was a new customer and like to get my nails done once a month or more. I would of been a wonderful repeat customer.

Treated myself to a little spa day here recently and could not be more impressed. All the sessions went effortlessly, and with each one, I found myself utterly relaxed and pampered. I would highly recommend this place for any of the services I received (60 minute massage, rejuvenation facial, hydrating pedicure), and definitely intend on going here again.

I would also like to give a special mention to the woman who did my pedicure, Amanda. She was absolutely phenomenal. Not only was she incredibly attentive and experienced to the service at hand, but also one of the most friendly and genuine individuals I met while there.

//this is a very late review// The stylist I had was Nicole, who was referred to me by several of my co-workers. She cuts hair beautifully, I'll give her that. I had her cut about 10 inches off my hair and I was very happy with it. I came back to her, not long after my hair cut, hoping she could do an ombre. She used a "new technique" to achieve a more balayage look.

It didn't work, we pulled a deep red after 3+ hours in the chair. I came back a second time and the pictures attached here are what we got. I was mortified, I didn't know what to think. I was embarrassed, there was literally a class being taught a couple stations down. (The salon wasn't even open, Nicole saw me personally to get this done).

It was like a scene from the movies, the instructor said, "I don't know why people with dark hair like ASIANS keep trying to go blonde! It's ridiculous, " the whole class laughs and jokes about it- [cue ME] as I walk past the entire class with my orange head! I felt like I was in a nightmare. She had a giant framed certificate at her station that acknowledges her upper skill level in coloring.

I thought I was in good hands. There was no blending, just a stark line of my dark hair and then orange. The bottom half was blunt, no gradient. It just wasn't what I asked for, but I'd been the chair for 4+ hours and we went from bad to worse. I just wanted to get out of there ASAP. My total, plus tip was close to $300. I got my hair fixed at Josef's Salon in Virginia Beach.

When trying to get a refund, I had to email, call, leave VM, until finally a scheduled sit down meeting with the manager was put in place. So I came back to the salon, and the manager tried to reprimand me for not having it "fixed" at Changes by another stylist. I looked her dead in the face and said, "I literally had YOUR BEST stylist give me the worst consultation and encouraged me, that she could achieve an ombre!

I don't trust her or anyone at this salon to color my hair." I showed her these pictures and only then was I was refunded. I wish I could them no stars for this whole experience. The moral of the lesson: 1. If you want to go blonde, and you have dark hair like me (AN ASIAN), do it it stages & prepare for the brass! 2. don't let anyone try to make you feel bad about it.

What that lady said to all those students was completely inappropriate and there are plenty of people with dark hair naturally that stay blonde: Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Liane V, Desi Perkins. 3. Go to someone of whose work you've seen before. At the time, I didn't do my research to see Nicole's picture references of past ombres or balayages.

This was completely my fault. Asking someone to do something she hasn't successfully done before wasn't the best game plan, and it backfired on me. Ultimately I wasted my time and fried my hair in the process.

Let me start by saying that I asked if they have anyone specializing in modern male cuts. I was told they do and I promptly had an appointment. It was not bad, but it wasn't great. Better than Supercuts/Hair Cuttery? Definitely, as it should for the price. Are there better options in town? Yeah. But if I'm in a pinch I could see myself coming back.

THEY WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO ADD A TIP IF YOU PAY BY CARD. This is the only complaint I have. Who carries cash anymore? I hardly ever do! They have an ATM on premises but who wants to add a service charge on top of a tip for a not-cheap service? It's annoying and unprofessional and Changes seems to be the only place that still does this, at least in my experience.

If they change this policy, I'll add that fifth star. Having said that, I have been going for years. My hair is super thick and just curly/wavy enough to be problematic. When I moved to the area it took me months to find a stylist who could deal with it. Al was recommended to me and I have never been disappointed with his work. On top of all that, he is really sweet and fun.

If you tell him you love the scalp massage during your wash, he'll give you a little extra : I only occasionally treat myself to other services but their mani/pedi and massage services are luxurious and the facilities are nice.

The folks at the counter welcomed me and then offered some red wine! The staff was so inviting it was hard to pick one of the best moments. Ok, it was the warm welcome and the wine! My spa pedicure was awesome. No grinding away the callus as they use a pad to break the hard skin down! The facility was clean and comfortable!

I've been going to this place on and off for five years getting my nails done, and then almost a year ago, I got fed up with the hair salon I was at and decided to drive the 20 minutes from where I live to here. I've NEVER been happier. Nadia, Jana, and Kirsten are fantastic nail techs! There are others as well, I've just never had them, but I'm sure they are great because I always see the same people in their. Caitlin is fantastic with hair! I'd never go anywhere else unless I moved out of the area due to the navy.

This place is a one stop shop. I have gotten massages here, nails, and hair. The products also last forever because they are incredible quality. Seriously, I'd never go anywhere else.
