I don't consider myself a business man in the hair salon business, I'm just doing I love to do on my own and by myself.
My salon is NOT gender neutral - it's a women's ONLY salon. I do all haircuts any style. There is NO haircut that I haven't already done over and over since the 1980s or can't do.

Michael seemed very nervous and quiet which is understandable I used to be an anxious person too haha. Everything was comfortable and cozy and I like that he spoke to me gently since I know a lot of hairstylists can be intimidating. He took his time to make sure my hair was proportioned correctly which I really appreciate considering he says he does everything quick which worried me but not anymore :) Lastly he does do student discounts it's $10 off :D However what kinda threw me off was when he was speaking to a customer on the phone, he was asking if she had curly hair and he seemed to be annoyed/frustrated saying something "curly hair is too difficult I'm retired so it takes up too much time it's tiring" which really saddens me to hear. I felt really bad but aside from that he seems to be sweet and welcoming. I would avoid here if you have curly or ethnic hair :(

The person who owns the salon is transphobic. I went in to ask him about a haircut. I'm a trans woman, which I told him. He said he only does women's hair. I said I am a woman, but he still refused to even talk to me about my hair. I was very hurt and insulted. I encourage anyone who cares about trans rights to not go to this business.

First time visit, plan to be a long term customer as long as he's working! Really great job, and there is something really luxurious to be the sole customer at a salon. It's worth it! I wanted a short cut after only ever having long hair, and I went in and said, "do whatever you think would be best for my face." I'm going to assume my own delight and the compliments of lots of friends means.he did the best! Thank you!

Michael is an absolute gem! Clear communication every step of the way. I needed help walking back some damage done to my pixie cut, even if it meant losing some hair growth progress making things right. Michael was mindful of my hair's texture, the cowlicks, and what style best fit my face. Found this spot while searching for a hairdresser that has skill cutting short hair for women. Scheduling an appointment was very easy!

Best haircut ever. Living in Florida I have a very hard time to find somebody that actually knows how to cut short hair. I'm glad I found Michael and I will see him at least twice a year when I am in NYC. His website expresses everything i think about a short pixie cut - if it's cut right according to the shape of your face it just looks good. I definitely will be back!

I'm so grateful for being able to cut my hair here. After coming out as non-binary to my mom i finally got the green light to cut my has as i always wanted. Michel helped bring the real me to life, he is very passionate about what he does. Very gentle and kind and i would definitely come here again! I didn't check the prices BEFOR hand but i was able to get the haircut for free as it was my first time i cut my hair so short! I hope Michel knows i really love what he did to my hair, i cried of happiness, really thank you so much!

The salon is cozy and located in a good spot. The website says it's free if it's your first time to go from a long hair to a very short one. It was my first time but I paid $45. The length of my hair is normally to a bit under my shoulders (maybe it wasn't considered long). Michael is kind, organized and talented. He also recommended me a defining cream to use when my hair is wet (which I'm using now). Maybe he's just not used to different types of hair. Anyway, I'm happy with the haircut he gave me! :)

Michael is the real deal! We took our 11 year old daughter and friend there to have 12 of hair cut off so they could donate it to Locks of Love to make wigs and help children with cancer. From the minute he answered the phone to welcoming us into his cute East Village shop and throughout the then entire process made us feel welcomed and comfortable. He was great with our daughter and her friend and we couldn't be more please with the results. We highly recommend him and will definitely be going back!
