I've gone to Derby for years and I've always seen KC. My kids and I both drive over an hour each way to get our hair done by KC and we've been loyal for over 15 years. He's recently had to take time off and we desperately needed to see someone and Joie had the first available opening. I think it was divine intervention! She is amazing and knows exactly what she needs to do to help her clients out. What a great addition to the Derby team! She is gold.

I saw Allison for a facial and it was sublime! I'll definitely be back. The environment is inviting and filled with things you didn't know you needed! Everyone there had such lovely energy

From the moment I walked in the door I was welcomed and offered a beverage (I had a very nice glass of wine) served in glass not plastic. Andrew was my colorist/stylist, he listened to my wants and concerns. I highly recommend Derby Salon.

Hope is amazing! she listened to my hair goals, explained the technicalities, and gave me a f*ckin awesome haircut! my curls have never looked better and my volume is on point. the woman at the front desk, Jennifer (edited to add her name), was really friendly and nice to talk with. overall, I felt comfy and at home at Derby Salon. I can't wait for my next appt!

If I could rate it 0 I would. I have gone in to get my hair dyed 3 times there and every time it always turns out awful. This time they left my end purple from over toning and the top ORANGE from not leaving the bleach and toner on long enough. I tried to live with it but every day I have someone asking me why my hair is orange. Please this is the best advice I have for anyone don't go here. I'm almost positive all the stylists are straight out of beauty school because they ALWAYS fuck up and I have never seen a stylist stay for more than a year. My hair also cost me $240 and I cry about it daily. If anyone has any other hair salon suggestions please sen them my way.

My first time coming to Derby for ANY service happened last week, and this salon has found themselves a returning customer. I'd gone three years without a pedicure, and to say my feet were in rough shape was an understatement to end all understatements. Cami came THROUGH with her pedicure skills and was not only an absolute pleasure to speak with during my pedicure but gave me no grief or attitude on the sad state of my feels.

Unlike previous nail salons where I'd leave to have a crack in my heel worsen the next day, Cami did what had to be magic to make sure the cracked heels I had felt taken care of without worsening the symptoms, and gave me tips on what products to use at home and how I could maintain the work done until I could come in again. I left not only with excellent feeling and looking feet but a literal 180 viewpoint (for the better) on humanity. Additionally, I love that the skincare and hair products available for purchase (or retail therapy) are high quality.

I came here for a haircut and consultation as I had received a haircut elsewhere that wasn't exactly what I was hoping for. I hopped on Yelp and read about salons near me and found Derby. In the reviews, I read multiple reviews about a stylist named Jordan, stating that she was kind, personable, a great listener and creative with ideas on styles.

I can confirm all of these and more! Jordan was so kind, genuine and authentic, interested in me as a person, and immediately made me feel welcome. We shared great conversation and she did an amazing job with my hair, I am beyond thrilled with the outcome. Another thing I really appreciated was that she explained the "why" behind my current style and why that didn't do what I was wanting it to, and what we could do about it, also explaining the why and how before touching my hair.

This was so helpful as it decreased my aprehension and built my confidence in that I was with someone who knows her trade and is interested in my thoughts and concerns. Thank you, Jordan! I will most definitely be back!

Jamie Strube is the best hair dresser EVER! She's not afraid to give you a killer hair cut. She's a badass bitch. I have naturally unfun hair but somehow Jamie makes it fun. I recommend her to all your family & friends.

Writing this review on behalf of my friend because she doesn't have yelp. "I went into the salon for my appointment and started to describe my preferences and things I wanted improved that had gone wrong during my previous appointment. She got aggressive and defensive and told me my preferences were wrong and that the other stylist at the other salon was obviously correct.

After scalding me, I gestured that I wanted to leave but she wouldn't let go of my jacket. I was humiliate. First she lectured me on my hair preferences and then she tried to trap me in the salon. One of the worst customer experiences of my life. Cool decor though. 1 star."

I love Derby Salon! I see Dana, who is an amazing listener, offers a lot of wisdom and vision, and has mad skills. I am often up for an adventure with my hair, and I trust Derby to take that and run with it. Never been anything less than thrilled after an appointment.

I went to see Jamie for a cut and full foil and was impressed with how quickly she got the foils in! However, she then began working on another client after putting my foils on? It was really bizarre. There was no communication about how long she was going to leave me sitting there and I felt really uncomfortable. She didn't check my foils or anything for 25 mins while she colored the other woman's hair and then she rinsed me out and gave the least relaxing shampoo I've ever had.

She rubbed my head so hard, didn't ask about the water temp (which was scalding at first and then cold) and she didn't pre-mix my toner because she was doing the other woman's hair and so I had to wait with a cold head in the bowl for 5 minutes while she mixed. She didn't ask how I liked my hair styled and burnt my head with the blow dryer - she held it about half an inch away from my head.

She also cut my hair way shorter than I wanted. I ask for the ends of my bob to be textured and not blunt and she went in and made the whole thing way too short with the layers. Overall, color not as bright and light as I was hoping, haircut too short, and my scalp hurts. Also, very expensive for the experience.

I saw Megan for a curly haircut yesterday and am IN LOVE with it. My coworkers, friends, and family are too. It is definitely my favorite haircut I've had in years and Megan was so friendly and professional. With curly hair, I'm always a little nervous to get it cut, especially since I wanted curly bangs this time, but she walked me through everything and I feel more like myself now. Definitely going to be a regular here.

I purchased a Groupon for a facial at Derby, and wowowowow! I will admit I don't have a "place" to get regular facials as they're an occasional treat for me, but I will DEFINITELY be returning to see Audrey for facials. She put all of my other facials to shame--she was hands on the entire time, explaining what she was doing, what was coming next, and SO easy to talk to!

I was able to discuss my skincare routine without any judgment, and she was so helpful in answering any questions I had. Honestly, a facial with Audrey really changed how I view facials in general--I never knew how good/informative it can be, and I can't even put my past facials in the same league. Thank you, Audrey!

I got my haircut service with Andrew. He patiently listened to my haircut & hair routine needs and provided an excellent hair service. The salon follows COVID 19 protocols and is hygienic. Will definitely come back!

It took me years to find a salon in Seattle that I loved, and I'm so glad I found Derby! My friend recommended it to me and I'm so grateful she did. I have curly hair and getting a good haircut has been tricky for me. Jaaron has cut my hair 3 times now and she does fantastic work. She really listens, pays great attention to detail, and always gets it right. I will keep coming back for sure. Thank you!

Derby salon is my go-to place. upon arrival they ask you to wash your hands thoroughly, and fill out a quick questionnaire about Covid safety concerns. I usually use hand sanitizer as a double precaution, and make myself comfortable on the couch while they offer me coffee tea or wine. They have limited capacity, so it feels very safe during Covid to sit down in your chair and have your hair cut. Everyone is wearing masks, and everyone is friendly and funny as usual. Easy going staff, fun music playlists, 10/10

I've been going to Derby for years and have never had a bad experience. Jordan has been my stylist over the last several years, and I like her so much that even after moving across the country, I try to schedule a cut with her whenever I'm back in town. She is always great at listening to what I want, and giving me a great haircut and style.

This past visit, she wasn't available so I scheduled an appointment with Jaaron. I went from having hair past my shoulders to a super short cut, and she was amazing! The style turned out exactly how I wanted it, and she was so careful and exacting, and really, really nice as well. In addition to the amazing service, the salon was clean, everyone had plenty of space and wore masks, and they were very careful during the entire process from check in to payment.

Fun salon and great staff, worth the drive from the Eastside. Dana is our regular girl and she is wonderful. Went to her for wedding hair styles for my Daughter and she nailed it. The wedding hair was even better, all the girls looked wonderful. The ladies at Derby go out of their way to make you feel special. That being said street parking can take a few minutes so give yourself extra time so you don't get stressed out.

I visited Derby Salon this week and 10/10 recommend! The service was EXCELLENT from Start to finish. First of all, they are by appointment but were so kind to fit me in at the last minute for an emergency color correction. When I arrived the lady at the front desk checked me in and even brought me a beverage to have during my wait. I waited only 5 min and was taken to the stylist chair straight away.

My stylist was Hope and she was amazing! She asked me about my hair history, looked at photos of what I wanted and I could tell that she really cared about what I wanted. I recommend Hope hands down. She nailed my hair goals and she was so kind/ reassuring throughout the process. After my hair service Hope walked me through some products that she used on my hair. Although I didn't purchase products during my service, I will definitely be back

Excellent cut and foil from Jaaron! My regular stylist (at a different salon) had to cancel my appt but I still needed to get my hair done yesterday as I am going out of town. I was able to book same day with Jaaron and she was fantastic. I was worried about seeing someone new because, ya know, it's my hair and if it looks bad I look bad.lol. But, I had no reason to worry as Jaaron is really great at what she does.

She is very skilled and was extremely thorough with my partial foil and my haircut. I had a great time talking with her. Excellent stylist! Also, the salon is just really nice and laid back. They have great products and cute merchandise for sale and the vibe is nice--not a "rude salon person" in sight. Very welcoming. Thanks Jaaron and Derby!

I've been to Derby Salon for haircuts in the past and it's been a pleasant enough experience due to the convenience of the salon, but I will not be coming back. I booked an appointment at 3 in preparation for a haircut prior to an important evening event. I arrived at 3 and was given a cup of tea, which was great. However, no one came to get me until 3:45 and there was absolutely no apology or explanation offered.

The stylist was obviously running late because she cut pretty hastily, and then just stuck me under the dryer and took another customer into my chair. I never even had the chance to look at my haircut in the mirror to go over it with the stylist before I had to leave. As it was, I was still late to my event. Given what I had paid, it seemed a pretty shoddy experience, so I'll try one of the other nearby salons next time.

I absolutely loved my hair cut by Caillee. I have gone back to Derby Salon twice now to get my hair cut by Caillee because she was so great and cutting my hair just right to shape my face. I highly recommend going in to see her for your next hair cut!

I had a balayage and haircut service with Georgia and I'm very happy with the results! Although Georgia is new to the Derby Salon fam (wrapping up her apprenticeship), she's pretty open to collaborate with the other stylists, get their opinions on products and techniques to use and everyone was so helpful and friendly! I really appreciate Georgia's patience, friendliness and unpretentious attitude! Would def go back to see her again!

I have been a fan of this salon for Years! Primarily because the vibe is laid back but really because Elizabeth is an amazing stylist. Check out one of my changes In the picture. She constantly amazes me with her color as I change my mind. Also who doesn't love supporting women owned businesses!

So. I've been here twice within 2 weeks and I did have a great haircut by Shelby but I'm so very unsatisfied with the hair color. The first time I showed her an image of what I wanted a redish/brown color which was bright and what I got was a super bright redish orange color which I was kind of okay with but wasn't like the image. She told me if I wanted to come back within 2 weeks if I didn't like it which I thought she would fix it for free or something. Came back within 2 weeks realizing it faded really fast. Told her I wanted equal parts red and brown with brightness and she told me she went darker as it'll fade in 2 or 3 wishes to a lighter color. Well, when I got home, it looks like my natural hair color, see no red pigment in it and got charged for it.

At that point I knew I wouldn't get my desired hair color and wanted to get out of there. I should of kept my original hair color and gotten it fixed somewhere else to the color I wanted in the first place.

When I moved to Seattle, I was terrified is never find a good, reasonably priced salon. Tried at least three before I ended up at Derby, and I'm now in love. Alex does an amazing job with my hair and is great at interpreting my vague comments into beautiful hair. Even better, prices just can't be beat. I pay about $40 for a cut and about $120 for a cut and partial foil. I'm someone who gets disgustingly attached to stylists and I can say I'm never going anywhere else while I live in Seattle.

I have been in a couple of times for special events, once for the SIFF red carpet premiere with Joss Whedon and co for Much Ado About Nothing and again for the 2013 Child's Play Dinner. My first hairdo was some death-defying Victory Rolls and my second one was a beautiful assembly of up-swept curls. Both hairdos garnered many compliments so easily, I am a definite fan of this place.

Street parking has never been an issue and I need to remember that they offer other beauty services like nails and eyebrows. Check them out if you want something special or some colour that you can't get anywhere else. Be nice to the salon dog!
