Jeffrey Richard Salon opened in 2000 as an AVEDA Concept Salon that is truly an experience! We "walk the walk" of an exceptional guest experience with each and every visit to our salon. All services begin at the amount listed. Additional fees may be incurred depending on length, density, condition of hair and the guests desired results. Haircut services include a Stress Relieving Treatment (head, neck and shoulder massage), shampoo service, a quick cleanse facial for men, blow dry, and make-up touch for women.
Our mission at Aveda is to care for the world we live in, from the products we make to the ways in which we give back to society. At Aveda, we strive to set an example for the environmental leadership and responsibility, not just in the world of beauty, but around the world. Concept Salon means that Jeffrey Richard Salon is fully committed to Aveda's philosophy. We only use and carry Aveda products including the entire color line, hair, skin and body care products in addition to Aveda makeup.

Caroline is fabulous. She listens to my requests, advises me on what style best for the amount of time I desire to spend on my hairstyle, and is a great conversationalist to boot! I always walk away with a haircut that lasts me the full 8-10 weeks between appointments or longer and have never been disappointed. Price points are fair and no taxes or tips so the price is the price, there is no guesswork needed.

I've bounced around between a few salons in town, and I decided to check out Jeffrey Richard. The wait for an appointment was long but definitely worth it! I see Caroline for my appointments, and she's extremely knowledgable, friendly, and always does an absolutely fantastic job. My hair is thin and fragile but she's been able to work with me to get to the color I want AND keep it healthy along the way.

I was very disappointed today at Jeffry Richard Salon. I received a call from the salon as I was enroute to my appointment that had been scheduled for well over a month. This call came one hour before my scheduled appointment time. Apparently the stylist that I had specifically scheduled with had a personal issue at the last minute and was not going to make the appointment.

I was not happy with the casual manner that my options were explained to me. No, I was not interested in rescheduling with the stylist. I wound up going to another salon to get my hair cut today.

I just had my last appointment because I'm moving out of town. I know I will truly miss this salon! It was best hair care I've ever had. I cannot say enough about the professionalism and care from the front desk, my stylist, and all the staff. Samina my stylist was exceptional at my cuts, styles, and balayage. Her shampoo service was so relaxing I almost fell asleep! If you're looking for a new salon- this is your place.

The front desk / people booking the appointments are clearly unorganized. I was told I would receive a call back/confirmation for an appointment that was open and they never called me back to confirm that I was on. They then called me back later that day saying I missed my appointment? I clarified it later as why I didn't show up, because THEY NEVER CALLED ME BACK TO CONFIRM.

Like are you serious? Recently I cancelled an appointment, and was charged anyways because I didn't give them 24 hours notice, I was never told about this policy. But now I know? The thing that bothered me most was the lady on the phone who kept bringing up my "no show" from last time that was 100% this salon's fault. Geez, I won't be back.

I don't typically write reviews but today was my first visit with Samina and she is an absolute GEM! I've also never loved my color and cut more! Jeffrey Richard Salon is all-around fantastic!

I have long hair that I don't trim as frequently as I should, mostly due to some anxiety stemming from previous botched jobs. Tonight I had Brooke for my cut and she absolutely ROCKED it. Truly, the best hair cut I've had in years. She kept my length while adding beautiful layers. She listened and then created exactly what I asked for. Even my husband commented how amazing it looks and he's not typically one for details. On top of that, Brooke is down to earth, easy to chat with and gave such a relaxing head massage, to boot. Can't wait to return to her!

I recently moved from LA to GR and have been putting off getting a haircut because I have curly hair and trust issues. I found Jeffrey Richard Salon walking down the street and feel like my faith in the universe has been restored! I was able to book a next day appointment with Caroline and she was WONDERFUL. Very relaxed, personable and professional. We talked about the style I was going for, landed on a couple pictures, and I left with my hair looking better than I could have imagined. Can't wait to see her again.

I got another haircut from Caroline, with whom I've been meeting for a couple of years now. She does a fantastic job of offering advice, listening to ideas and challenges, and of course has the ability to make any cut look great. Her service combined with Jeffrey Richard Salon's great facilities and professional service from the moment you enter the door, into the cut, and through the relaxing hair wash and warm face towel makes me look forward to my next haircut each time I leave. I had the pleasure of getting my hair done for the first time by Mr. Jeffrey himself. I was very pleased with my hair cut and style. Mr. Jeffrey is very knowledgeable, patient and addresses his clients needs and answer all your questions. The salon atmosphere is very friendly and everyone greets you with a smile. I have course thick nightmare hair. Caroline at Jeffery Richard Salon is the absolute best! She knows her stuff. All the stylist there also know what they are doing. You know that no matter who you go too, your going to get a quality cut color and style. The salon is clean, trendy and the staff is friendly. I miss the complimentary hand massages!

I had my very first haircut since Covid (not by myself ) at Jeffrey Richard Salon. I went on my birthday, had a fabulous cut and style performed by Sommer! She is amazing! She's also an educator at the Aveda Institute so I knew I was in good hands! Can't wait to have her do my color next time! Everyone there was extremely professional and the salon was super clean! Highly recommend everyone To go there! Noticed many male clientele as well! I learned that on your bday, you receive a free product! What's better than that!

I moved to the Grand Rapids area from a much bigger metropolitan area where I had really found the perfect establishment to get my hair cut. When I moved to GR I had quite a time finding the right fit for a salon. Finally I found Jeffrey Richard Salon and couldn't be happier. I have a regular stylist that I go to there, but because I travel frequently I have actually had my hair cut by almost all of the staff there. They are ALL top notch. Friendly, professional, accommodating. I highly recommend!

I've seen all the Yelp and google reviews and they all seemed very positive so I decided to give them a shot. I went yesterday and seen sommer and she did not disappoint, I was so nervous because every time I've got a haircut before I never liked it. But, I LOVE my haircut this time, I will definitely be going back here when I need a haircut again. Highly recommend!

If you need a new salon this is the one! I am always skeptical about trying a new place for my hair and have rarely done so, but I am so happy I tried Jeffrey Richard's Salon. My stylist was Taryn (I apologize if the spelling is incorrect), and she did an AMAZING job! I have never been so happy with a haircut! (seriously I have cried at home after a few- but not after this one!).

She is so personable and really listens to what you want. She has the perfect balance of listening to your wants/needs/concerns and adding her professional expertise to make it a great cut that really works for you- with all details taken into consideration. I wanted to try curtain bangs but was apprehensive because I am not super great with styling my hair. Taryn walked me through the steps of styling it in a way that works for me.

Quick and easy! The salon was also great with ensuring safety protocols for covid-19 which made me feel super safe and at ease. The salon is very clean and welcoming too! The receptionist is also super friendly and was so helpful with finding an appointment for me.

I had been coming to JR Salon for a number of years and then moved to live and work overseas. When I returned, I called the salon and was thrilled to learn that Gwen is still there! Gwen is THE BEST. She listens carefully when I tell her what I want and follows pictures exactly if I bring one with me. I always get loads of compliments on my hair and I don't plan to go anywhere else. Also, their bang trim service is really awesome.

If you need just a little trim between haircuts, you can come in for $20 and will walk out looking refreshed. JR Salon is consistently terrific and I can't recommend it enough.

I dropped off my 16 year old for haircut and 15 min later she was out. I wish they would start blow drying again like all other salons. I just hate paying full price not looking at all like I went to the salon. We will return when blowouts return.

Caveat Emptor - This place has changed from a really nice well run business to a no fly zone; Jeffrey is not the man he was when I last saw him in January! My experience today (6.30.20) was rude, unprofessional and amounted to a 180 degree turn from what this salon used to be. It's changed in many ways, all new stylists, new manager, no customers and poorly stocked products. 50% of the stations were gone (related to COVID distancing - good), mask requirement - good and they require you sign a legal document essentially indemnifying them from all liability for all known and unknow diseases.

My May appointment was cancelled because of COVID restrictions. Background: Moved from CA 4 years ago, found the salon on the Internet.good reviews so I tried it. Amy was the manager and she paired me with Breanne. Both were professional, exuded kindness and customer service, good culture/operations model.positive energy. Many mature talented professionals - quality work.

Short conversation regarding my hair, style and preferences.business proper, natural part in the middle, short.1.5 inches and layered and she nailed it. Several commented on the cut.how nice it looked. I'd just rolled out of the service. Navy special forces so presented a bit rough.8-9 inches of hair all round. I enjoyed this salon for 3 years. Dial forward to 1.30.20.

I was working overseas for the government for 15 months and called for an appointment with Breanne. Amy told me she'd left.my next three asks were also no longer working there. Carolyn was suggested - Carolyn's cut totally missed the mark! I presented with 10-11 inches of hair (full head) from working security and covert operations and requested the cut above.

They cut (at my request) several 9" strands for children's wigs (for Oncology).never received confirmation but trust it was done. I looked like Moe Howard (Three Stooges) on the top and a Marine cut on the bottom. I needed shampoo and conditioner.they were out of men's.paid in full ($72.00) and was told they would call my in 1-2 weeks when it arrives. Returned the next day and adjustments were made.

Recent visit: Katie called me 6.29 to tell me the shampoo/rinse I ordered 1.20 was in. She asked if I wanted a 6.30 cancellation - yes. I arrived on time wearing my N-95 medical grade mask. There was 1 woman waiting, no other customers and 6 employees. Very lethargic door greeting - my temperature was normal. I was then asked to sign their COVID Release.

This was clearly written by lawyers - I declined and stated "I was not informed of this requirement and realize declining means I will no get a haircut." I offered to pay 50% and asked for my pre-paid products. They returned with 1 of 4.looked on the men's product shelf - nothing. I asked them to please credit my card and walked outside and stood on the curb.

During this brief time, the two women behind the counter became obnoxious and menacing.they were argumentative and clearly upset because I would not sign the agreement. I told them had this been disclosed, I would have asked for a review copy and given the content declined the appointment and simply picked up my pre-paid products. Total time inside the salon was maybe 40 seconds.

The woman at the door requested my credit card to process the credit and returned it to me on the curb 3-4 minutes later (still had my mask on) with no receipt. The other customer was standing mask on 10 feet from me.she was there when I arrived.not 1 customer inside and still waiting). I asked for one and was told the transaction would process tonight - don't worry.

I again requested a receipt and shared "because it was transacted, the terminal would print one." I was having confidence and trust issues with the business, new employees and wanted verification of the credit. Just when you think the insanity is over.rather then receive a receipt.a phone is given to me.it's Jeffrey.who proceeded to without asking for a statement or experience debrief.yell at me to "put on my mask and get out of his salon. I'm calling 911 to get you arrested." This was loud enough for the other customer/employee who gave me the phone to hear.

Clearly the employee enjoyed what she'd done. The rant went a couple minutes and it was clear, this employee had not been honest with him. Favorite Murphy Law - "Never argue with a fool because a passerby may not know the difference." When he broke for air. I told him I was in the salon about 30 seconds with a mask and have been outside for the past 10 minutes trying to get my product credit.then he yelled "I'm not going to give it to you and never come back again." The denial of my refund for products they never delivered did not surprise me given the experience and I have no intention of returning. The $72.00 credit wasn't issued; I was not charged for the no cut. Statement of fact: American Express fraud called last night; compromised card - under investigation.

I had an edgy bob, and decided to go back to a pixie cut. I showed Caroline the pixie cut below (see woman w dark hair), saying that is what I wanted. I also explained my perspective that with a short cut, if the details are 'off', including the length, it can change the entire look of the cut. The cut I got (pics of me with platinum hair) was off proportionally, and it was too short.

It is a bit of a shock to go from longer hair to a short cut, yet getting one that is not what you wanted -- and too short, is so upsetting. Key differences that I see are: ** cut on dark hair vs my hair -- Substantial amount of hair goes to bottom of ears; only whisps of hair fall to mid ear -- Side bangs are angled from cheek bone to bottom of ear; my cheek bone is fully exposed, and hair is at least 1/2 too short at its longest point. - Length of side bangs is close to length in back; difference in length of side bangs vs hair in back of head is more significant with my cut. - Cut on back of head transitions nicely to rest of cut; cut on back of head bulges, and does not transition nicely to rest of cut.

I love the cut I wanted. The above discrepancies created a different look - one that I did not want. I am so disappointed. I immediately went to the store to buy some head bands so I can 'hide' the cut for the next few months, until it is long enough to get the cut I wanted in the first place. I find one of the most important things a stylist can do is to pay attention to the details. (Hopefully I can attach referenced photos once I've posted this!)

Welcome environment as soon as you enter. Professional service provided from everyone. There is intentional way they are united and all doing their part towards providing excellent service all around. I definitely will return.

An experience like no other! It all started off with me messaging the salon on the weekend. I thought it wouldn't be until Monday that someone would get in touch with me. It was the very next day (Sunday) that I received a pleasant response back with all my questions answered in the message. I was given a few names of hairstylists to make an appointment with, and called Monday to make an appointment with Amy.

On the day of my arrival at the Hair Salon, I was greeted by Elise. She was very sweet! I was happy to see someone that loved what they do, with a true genuine smile! Thank you Elise! She gave me a profile card to fill out and it wasn't long until Amy my Hairstylist came to greet me. Amy gave me a tour of the Salon, which I've never had before at a Salon.

It was a nice touch to my experience. If you want a hairstylist that will listen to your Hair Story, than Amy is the one:). It was my first appointment and I could tell that she truly does care about All Things Hair. I had a color consultation with her, as I recently had a color correction and I'm still in the process of getting it just right. I'm looking forward to my color appointment with her. I had a great experience at this salon as a first time customer. I would highly recommend TeeJay - she was awesome. She gave me a fresh new shape to my boring haircut, while still respecting my wishes of not taking much length off. I will definitely go back there! And the ladies at the counter were super awesome as well! P.S. They pretty much can make you any espresso drink as well! Bonus!

WOW! With so many little touches, thoughtful additions, and an evident dedication to the craft, Jeffrey Richard Salon gets it right with customer service and industry knowledge! Located front and center in the busy Uptown/Wealthy district, this charming, long standing building and been revamped as a cutting-edge Aveda concept salon. Specializing in Aveda styling and customer care concepts while using only Aveda's 99% natural products, they are good to customers and the environment. Walking through the store area in the front, leads you to the check-in station.

To your right is the chairs and to your left is the shampoo and color bar areas. Like the other reviews state, you will be treated to a heavenly shampoo and massage. I really like that they dim the lights in the shampoo area, creating a zen-like experience. Cindy was a wonderful stylist who listened to what I wanted and made suggestions to improve upon my ideas.

I only requested a cut but she gave me some good suggestions on my color and how to take care of it. She showed me the products she used on my hair but thankfully didn't try to up-sell me on all of them either, the way stylists do at other salons. Next time I'm out of products, I'm coming back here to get them just because they weren't forced on me!

Keep in mind that this is a no tipping salon. I wasn't sure how to feel about this at first since it's so ingrained in me to tip when I have good service, as I did here. But they are really clear about it and surprisingly, it make the visit more enjoyable because I didn't real the pressure at the end.
