Shear Style Inc. first opened over 50 years ago in Ankeny, IA as Judy's Hair Fashions and has since grown into one of Ankeny's largest and most well-known family concept salons. From faded grown out black bottle dye over bleached hair, to healthy vibrant neon green. Staff is friendly and professional, and fun! Lydia is a great stylist that makes sure you're having a good experience and that you leave satisfied. I've gotten my hair bleached, dyed and cut here twice and both times I was super happy with the result. It can be scary trying new salons, but if you're new to the area and looking for a nice place, I definitely recommend this one. Attached are photos of the before and after.

Very professional and a great price. I used to go to sports clips and it seemed like most of the time I was getting people who were still learning. At shear style they are real pros. It is more expensive than sports clips but it is worth the price.

Very disappointing haircut. Took my daughter in for a cut and we mentioned several times to only cut the ends off. She has long naturally curly hair and wants to keep it long. Taylor washed her, blew her dry and straightened her hair and then proceeded to cut 5 inches off! My daughter came home and cried. Not going back.

Very friendly staff, fast service, and reasonably priced. My stylist's name was Sarah and she was fantastic. She listened to what I wanted and made some suggestions to improve the look. My hair is so much healthier now. I had a great experience and will definitely recommend Shear Style to my friends and family.

Very, very happy with my first appointment with Sarah, and will definitely be back again! My perm took 4 hours and the time flew by. She was so easy to talk to and did such a thorough and amazing job!

I was just here for the first time and I am so happy to have found this place! It was extremely easy to book an appointment, I showed up and the entire staff was super friendly and made me feel welcome. Melissa cut my hair (I donated and she measured it out, and cut the ponytails) and then styled and thinned out the rest of my hair. I was nervous cutting off so much hair but the style she gave me was absolute perfection! AND I have NEVER gotten so many compliments on a haircut in my life! I will definitely be going back again! Thank you Melissa!

We were treated really well by the whole staff, despite getting a time consuming haircut for my daughter (which happened to last until after closing time). I was nervous about how short she wanted it.but Sarah was awesome with her and she gave her an amazing haircut, not to mention a huge confidence boost. She looks great and loves showing it off!
