I was a customer of Sisters for 15 years. After a 10 year hiatus, I came back last week. I could not be happier about what I came back to. The staff was the same (that says so much for a business when they can keep good people) and the services were just as top notch as I remember. I got waxed and have booked my facial appointment. I look forward to that service as their products and experience are high quality. Thank you for being a service and location someone can count on.

This review is long overdue but I still feel compelled to post it. Despite the fact that I have patronized Sisters (primarily Elaine) for 30 years, I cannot in good consciousness continue to promote a business when an owner has no qualms about expressing harshly offensive political views during a service. I expect that a professional would display more regard for their clientele and their business. Elaine is unconcerned about how her views may be perceived by her customers, and obviously does not care.

I do not go to an aesthetician to have extreme personal views shoved down my throat in the midst of a Brazilian wax. Nor do I want to be drawn in to defending my position. Politics does not belong in the workplace and most certainly not when the political climate is already so full of hate, anger and fear.

I've only ever gone to Sisters for waxing, but they are very good at it. They're also quick and efficient. I rarely make appointments, but I do call ahead right before I leave to make sure someone is available. Doing this, I've never had to wait for more than a few minutes. I've tried several places for waxing in the city, and Sisters is by far the best - both downtown and old orchard.

5 stars is not a high enough rating, this salon is the best! I have been getting waxed here for over 15 years the entire staff is exceptional at their jobs. They are always on time, do a perfect wax, the salon is clean, facials are wonderful, prices are fair. You will not be disappointed with your service.

Dee is amazing! I definitely recommend her when it comes to waxing. She's a very knowledgeable esthetician.

I have been going to Sister's at the Water Tower location for years. Always friendly and consistent service. I enjoy the fact that they are a family owned and operated business. They have a beautiful location in Skokie as well.

I used to go here a lot where they deterred me from getting hard wax. Turns out, hard wax was much better for my skin. I was also sad to know I was overcharged compared to others that went here. Not sure why I was continually charged $10 more every visit. I prefer the cleanliness and how quickly I am done at other salons.

I had Yvonne for a brazilian (my first wax experience) and shes the best! she always distracts me from the pain with her great sense of humor and always does an amazing job!

A small, sterile location. No ambience to speak of but the staff is quite friendly. Waxing services were pretty good - got my legs and underarms done in a jiffy. The aesthetician who gave my sister and me our facials was rather brutal on my sister but did listen to my needs and was quite gentle with me. Overall, not the best or the worst experience.

I really struggled about giving this place a bad review because the first time I went it was great and I loved it. The second time i was charged extra because I had waited too long between waxes and it's extra work even though I first time I went I waited just as long. It is like getting your makeup done and them saying I'm gonna charge you extra because it took more work than expected to make you look good.

First ever Brazilian wax. Yvonne put me immediately at ease and the process was fantastic throughout the entire procedure. After all of the horror stories I'd been told, I was surprised at how tolerable it was. Gotta admit it was the first time ever that a female was that up close and personal, but Yvonne made me so comfortable I got over that quickly.

I couldn't imagine a better first time experience. I am one of the lucky ones that found the perfect professional for my Brazilian right out of the box. Why fix something that's not broken. Yvonne thank you and I'll see you soon!

I received my first bikini wax ever from Jackie. This place came highly recommended by a friend who regularly goes there. Jackie was quick and efficient, and she did a great job of creating a soothing atmosphere, considering it was my first time. Overall, while it there was some mild (and expected) discomfort, the experience was far less painful than I'd imagined. I'll be returning, for sure! The only thing I'd recommend is that they have curtains by the doors because anyone outside, in the waiting area can see you if they don't opten the door

Great place for a not so great experience. Holy smokes, I screamed curses like I had torrets, being my 1st time and not knowing exactly what to expect. Shit hurts. But, with that being said, I ed the finished product! I had Yvonne and she's super cool and did a good job trying to minimize the pain by pulling fast and pressing. It's a love-hate experience.

With that being said, experience is important and this place has it. You don't want some newbie who has little experience waxing you. Yvonne has over 10 years experience and her Mom also does this. All my hairy sisters need to come here. This is the place.

I went to Sister's Salon for the first time today and received a Brazilian wax. Yvonne is amazing! Not only is she very personable and funny, but she is very meticulous. My wax was perfect - quick and neat. The salon is clean and they even had fresh fruit in the waiting area. I definitely will be returning next month as a client, for sure!

Terrible communication with future clients. The first time I went to Sister's, I was scheduled for an eyebrow wax. When I went into the room, she began to ask me about my skin care regime and what procedures I have had recently. I advised her that I had a chemical peel nearly two weeks ago and she refused to do my eyebrows. Although I was a little disappointed, I trusted her word and scheduled an appointment for the next week for my eyebrows and a bikini wax.

When I finally arrived for my appointment, I again went in the room to speak with the esthetician. It had been about a week and a half since I did anything with the bikini area and she refused to wax because it had not been two weeks exactly. She wouldn't even bother checking to see if there was anything she could do to help. I feel like this could have easily been prevented if the secretary was providing this information to the me before I wasted time getting away from work to go to the salon and just be turned away.

Most people don't have time to waste to go to an appointment and just be turned away. As soon as I left the appointment, I found another highly recommended esthetician at Daniella's Skin Care right down the street. I gave her a call, explained my situation, and she told me to come over to her office to see what she could do for me. Turns out, she had NO problem doing the waxing.

She creates her own all natural wax and the process was totally painless. I appreciated the fact that she actually took the time to see how she could help me out instead of telling me there was nothing she could do for me and wasting my time (just like Sister's did). I would definitely not recommend Sister's to anyone, totally unprofessional. There are WAY better places out there and I am happy I found a new salon that values my patronage.

Simply the best place in Chicago - hands down. I can go to any one of the ladies at any time of the day and get a perfect wax 100% of the time. They are all amazing. Make an appointment and try to avoid Saturday mornings which is their busiest time of the week.

I have been a customer of Sister's for years and find the salon to be spotless. I have tried other salons that were closer to my house and always find myself going back to Sisters. Evonne is great! She is professional, friendly, and fast. I would absolutely recommend Sister's to any of my girlfriends.

Part of me was really impressed with Sister's and part of me was not impressed at all. The pros + Yvonne is fantastic at an almost painless brazilian. That is a marketable skill I'll gladly pay $55 for (*if* it lasts and I don't have in grown hairs after. Please see "cons") + Making an appointment is effortless and they are usually available last minute. +Very clean and well kept salon.

The cons -Anyone other than Yvonne is not fantastic at an almost painless brazilian! The other two ladies I've been to at Sister's were horrible. -A painless wax isn't as important as a good wax that lasts and doesn't leave you with a bunch of ingrown hairs. Happened every time with Sister's -Only takes cash or checks. Seriously?! C'mon. Sister's isn't bad, but it's definitely not as great as I expected from the other reviews.

Maybe if it's the only place you've ever gone for a bikini wax, I guess you could be happy about the painless experience and think the ingrown hairs or regrowth were just your skin/hair.

Look, I don't do this very often. Admittedly I used to come here more often before got married, but you know how it is. It just seems like $150 a month is a lot to spend on a perpetually baby-smooth cootch, y'know? But on that special occasion it's nice to know where to go to get it done quickly, completely and right. Not painlessly. NEVER painlessly.

There is just NO WAY that ripping the hair from the follicles of the most intimate an sensitive place on ones body ain't gonna hurt. Sorry. That's just the way it is. But these ladies are quick and efficient. Normally in any salon-type experience I don't appreciate idle chit chat. But not here. And they're really good at it.and I'm grateful.

Any little thing to help distract me from the fact that that I'm having the hair ripped from the follicles in the most intimate and sensitive place on my body by a total stranger (actually, I don't think I'd ever dream of subjecting anyone I actually KNOW to such a task). The most uncomfortable part is when they tweeze any individual strays that didn't take to the wax. Or is it when they tell me to turn over. Jeez.at least they know what they're doing!

I'm a little torn between 3 and 4 stars, because I'm a cheapskate. This is the only place I've ever gotten waxed and I'm happy there, just wish they charged less. All the women who work there are professional, quick and make you feel surprisingly at ease while they're up in your bidness. There's always about two of three tugs that cause me to curse and/or jump but all in all the ladies there do great, efficient work.

And it's true that if you go regularly (every month) it gets less and less painful. At this point, the most painful part of the process for me is paying. $55 (pre-tip) is my standard monthly price. That rivals what I pay for a hair cut, which I only get about 4 or 5 times a year. Also, considering how much they charge, they really should accept credit cards, which they don't.

This place is great. I will be a regular. I went last week for a bikini wax and I was thrilled with the results. The service was prompt and friendly and the place was clean. Rita seemed very knowledgeable and friendly. She clearly knew what she was doing as she was super efficient. I did have two minor complaints.cash only and cell phone talkers in the waiting area. More correctly, cell phone screamers. Otherwise this place is great and I will be back.
