Wow! What a fabulous place! Windsor of Old Town has THE BEST staff I have ever experienced at a salon & spa. Touria, Fifi, and Edict were each superb during my three services at Windsor (facial, manicure, and massage, respectively). Each knowledgeable, gracious, and masters at their craft. I will definitely be back!

I rarely leave such a negative review. However, my experience at this highly ranked salon was disappointing and frustrating. The service I booked was not provided even though three days before the service we confirmed that a gel manicure would need to be removed before my scheduled shellac manicure could be done-this was done by email and through a phone conversation.

Fifteen minutes into the manicure removal I was asked what color polish I wanted. I reminded Fifi that my appointment was for a shellac French manicure. I was told that was not possible as there was not enough time. I left with a coat of clear polish over small remnants of my previous French manicure. My appointment was from 10:00 to 11:00. I arrived 15 minutes early.

My appointment began shortly after 10:00 and I was dismissed at 10:40. At check out I was told I would not be charged for a shellac manicure. "Sorry for the confusion" was not sufficient explanation. If the service could not be performed at that appointment, I should have been informed when I booked it on Friday before the Tuesday appointment. I will neither return to Windsor nor recommend it.

Cannot say enough good things about The Windsor of Old Town Salon and Spa! Every facial treatment with Touria is personalized and makes me feel gorgeous walking out!

The facial was disappointing. Very little time spent on extractions in a dingy, worn facility. The esthetician was kind and luckily there was no efforts to upsell.

Had a facial and massage. Everyone was very nice and professional. Thankfully they give a wrap to put on underneath your robe. My face felt amazing. The massage was very thorough and wonderful. Im definitely looking forward to going back.

My pedicure with Fifi was excellent. I really love going to her because she is so gentle, thorough, and knowledgeable about nail care. She also does beautiful manicures. And the setting is great. The pedicure chair sits next to the window where you can watch the river and folks walking by below.

Touria is a fabulous aesthetician. She is thorough, professional and absolutely caring in her approach. Windsor of Old Town is a quiet and unassuming salon with great services! Sunny gives a perfect manicure and has years of experience as well! You will love these experts!

Love Windsor of Old Town Salon. Always so comforting to be with and pampered by "old friends" Elizabeth, Touria, FiFi, Erica and Donna, the owner, of this more than 40 year old salon in the heart of Old Town Alexandria!

My visit to the salon on Nov. 10th was my first there - a gift for my birthday! I enjoyed a facial with Teria, who I immediately felt comfortable with. I was not familiar with facials. The experience was relaxing, and Teria's technique was super-smooth. Occasional conversation was equally satisfying, as Teria is smart, intuitive, and thoughtful. I look forward to more visits to Windsor!

While the technicians here are nice and genuine I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. The sanitation is very poor, and the quality of their facials and pedicures are lacking. They left product on my face and rushed me out of a facial and burned my eyebrows with wax leaving a scar. I was left alone for 10 minutes during a pedicure and rushed out once they had another regular client come in.

I was left with streaky nails, burned eyebrows, and multiple cleansers and moisturizers caked into my hair and crusting on my face when I left. If you are looking for a decent facial or pedicure do not frequent this business. Save your money and find it more hygienic and professional facility. Of note they did not sanitize the files between scraping my feet and the next guest's. Visit this establishment at your own risk.

If you want a high quality massage - I live by Edicts massages. I've gotten many across Virginia and she is not only high skilled and credentialed (ive had a number of bad experiences and made sure to vet the credentials this time around) but she really cares about the quality of her service. Great massage but I recommend her HIGHLY if you have any specific muscle tension as I'm on my sixth session with her and have seen a worth of difference in my neck and back tightness. Edict is well worth your time.

For this type of business, hospitality is key. Rainy day three empty chairs, no greeting, no interest in what I walked in for. I was told "we are booked for the day" no follow up question or interest in a future chance to get my haircut. I got that distinct feeling that 1) contrary to advertised, walk ins are not welcomed 2) there are some unstated requirements I missed.

Perhaps I just looked like I left my ego at home. If I have $ to spend at your business, please don't problemitize my experience. Especially if I'm the only client around.

I used to frequent this business for gel/shellac manicures before moving out of the area, and always had a pleasant experience. Karina did an excellent job at not only making my nails look and feel refreshed, but making me feel at home in her company. While there were not hundreds of colours to choose from for the gel/shellac, the quality was still strong.

I had my nails done by Karina before my out-of-state wedding, and she went to great lengths to ensure that they would be perfect. I recommend this place if you're looking to get your nails done in a clean, relaxing environment.

My boyfriend (a regular at Gentleman's Quarters) and I went to the salon this past weekend. I had a massage, facial and mani-pedi, in that order. During my entire day, the customer service was fantastic and everyone was welcoming and personable. Tawny was my masseuse and she does a great job. My boyfriend has been to her several times and I now see why.

She takes her time, let's you know what she's doing and is thorough with her service. She has a very warm personality that quickly puts you at ease. I felt comfortable with her and left her space on cloud nine. Teara (sp?) did my facial. She was professional, competent and informative. However, even without the good advice she gave me, the feel of my skin afterwards was well worth the visit. I'm still loving the feel of my face and it's 4 days later.

She also did extractions, which I have missed in my last two facials with other providers. My mani-pedi was with FiFi. She has a sweet demeanor but clearly takes pride in her work. She was meticulous but gentle. I've already been complimented on her work and it seems to be lasting well. I truly enjoyed my spa day at this salon and walked out the front door feeling like a new woman.

The ladies that work here, from the receptionist to the service providers to the manager, are all friendly, attentive and focused on making the customers satisfied with their services. I also need to mention that I was just getting over a cold that day and so many ladies asked me if I needed a hot tea, drink, etc. every time I coughed. They were all very sweet and I plan to return again (driving all the way from Baltimore) soon.

My new girlfriend was like - you are absolutely getting a back wax if you expect to be seen in public with me. I was nervous about it but took a fresh look around at the guys she was pointing out at the pool and realized I had been embarrassing myself for years. Ten years later, and with exceptional service from Touria, I am a changed man. Touria, Esthetician, is professional, friendly and someone for whom I am proud to endorse/recommend.

An excellent place for a massage! I've been going to see Edict every other week for a few months and I feel a lot better! She does an excellent deep tissue therapeutic massage. Highly recommended!

This is the only place I have my eyebrows waxed. Touria, is extremely talented in her profession. I'm not sure how to explain but when you leave her room you feel at peace. Yes, I'm sure those who hate waxing are doubting this peaceful feeling, but Touria has a presence that envelopes her clients. Facials are an experience I wish I could have once a week. If you haven't tried, The Vit C Treatment is refreshing and your skin glows.

This is a great place for a guy to get a haircut and a shave. Relaxed, nice staff, convenient in Old Town. The massage therapist is extremely professional and a lifesaver.

My husband gets his hair cut by Tawny often. I walk with him to the salon and visit too with Tawny. She does an excellent job concerning haircuts and customer service. Her warm personality and great sense of style and caring demeanor is a great asset to Windsor of Old Town. Talented gifted lady! Mrs. Kapellas

The fact that I was able to get two same-day appointments on a Saturday, and that the woman on the phone was less-than-welcoming, should've been my first clues that this would not be a positive experience. The technicians themselves were polite enough. a little rushed toward the end. Which explains why they missed a few spots on my French manicure (gel). I'm not the type to speak up, and the woman at the front desk wouldn't have cared anyway.

Less than a week after my appointment, my nails are a hot mess. The gel polish is peeling off in some spots, cracking in others. Especially disheartening since I paid $90 for the mani/pedi combo.

Touria is amazing! I went to her regularly for Brazilian bikini waxes for 6 years and only stopped because I moved away from the area. She is efficient and fast and keeps the pain to a bare minimum (haha). Touria even gets out her magnifying mirror at the end to make sure she didn't miss anything. It is also fairly easy to get an appointment with her as well.

My husband and I just happened to be walking in Old Town one afternoon and as we were walking by he thought he would try it out since we were new in town, and fortunately he was able to get in for a haircut without a long wait. He's been back several times to see Tawny who does a great job cutting his hair, gives him a great neck massage, and happens to have a great personality.

I enjoy going with him due to the fact I get to have free drinks too! The receptionist has a great personality and this has become his #1 salon. There is a parking garage 1 block away that charges $5, so parking is never an issue.

Beware of sweaty Massage Therapist and the Massage was very rushed I will not be returning. Topped off by a very rude desk person who could have cared less when I told of my experience, ruined my whole day.

A couple of years ago, I got my then-boyfriend a massage at "The Gentleman's Quarters" and he liked it. So when it came time to give ME a gift, he went back and got me a gift certificate for a massage and a pedicure at Windsor of Old Town--the women's part of the same spa. I made an appointment for late in the day, getting the massage first, then the pedicure.

The massage was awkward. It was a warm stone massage, which I generally like, but pressure was oddly applied and it wasn't especially comfortable. To top it off, the masseuse was sweet, but wouldn't shut up. If I (or someone else) is paying $100+ for a relaxing experience, I really just want you to be quiet and do your thing while I zone out.

She spent a good bit of the time talking about herself and her faith. I'm not the most religious person, so it was the sort of conversation where I felt like I was walking on eggshells since I didn't want to shut her down, but I really didn't want to hear about her being born again. Afterwards, the pedicure was nice but a little rushed.

I wished that they had told me that I was pushing things to schedule both the massage and pedicure late in the day. I ended up being the last person in the salon, and it was pretty clear that they wanted me gone. So on top of my not-quite-enjoyable massage, I felt rushed and unwelcome getting the pedi. It looked ok, but the woman who did it didn't speak English very well, so we didn't talk much.

And her ride to take her home arrived while I was still in the chair. I felt terrible. If you're going to schedule me for anything, don't make me feel like I'm not supposed to be there, midway through the process. If I had been a walk-in, I probably would have been more forgiving, but I just didn't think it was appropriate. The pedi lasted a while and looked fine, but I walked away feeling harried--the last thing you want after what was supposed to be a really relaxing spa experience. It is pricey enough that I haven't felt compelled to return since I have had much more soothing experiences elsewhere.

I work in Alexandria and wanted to get my eyebrows waxed last minute. They were able to fit me in last minute and did a very nice job. It is one of the most reasonably priced places in the area ($15 for an eyebrow wax) and while small, the salon is clean and welcoming.
