Founded in 2004 by Pacific Northwest native, Scott Swerland, Seattle Sun Tan has quickly become an industry leader. In 2007 it was recognized within the "Top 15 salon chains in the US" by ETS Tan (the world's largest distributor and manufacturer of tanning equipment and products). Since its inception, Seattle Sun Tan has continually worked to be an innovative company within the tanning industry.

With the opening of the first store in Bellevue the tanning superstore concept was born. Seattle Sun Tan locations have 12 to 23 rooms and range from 2000-4,000+ square feet per facility, which is significantly larger than traditional tanning salons.
